What do we offer?

A high quality, dedicated teaching staff create a productive and safe learning environment.

An Inclusion Support Teacher and Inclusion Support Assistants support students with special needs. There are three specialist teachers, with expert knowledge in the fields of Physical Education, Environmental Science and Visual Arts/Design and Technology.

Exciting programs include Japanese which is taught from Preschool to Year 6. In 2015 Durack Preschool was the only school in the NT that was selected to trial the learning of a second language (Japanese) as part of the national Early Years Learning Trial Australia. We have continued learning Japanese across the school in partnership with Darwin Languages Centre. Durack is a sister school with Japan’s Kansai International Academy in Kobe, Japan. Our students will interact with students in Kansai and future plans are in place for exchange visits for staff and students. Have a look at their web site at https://www.kansai-intlschool.jp/wp/

There are opportunities for students to participate in challenges and competitions such as Tournament of Minds, Lego League, Robo Cup, Science and Mathematics competitions etc. to extend their learning and provide authentic experiences in a variety of areas.

Parents are partners in education

We believe in the importance of parents being partners in the education of their children, working together with the school to support their child's educational journey.

Defence School Mentor (DSM)

The DSM supports Defence Force members’ children to transition smoothly into and out of our school. The DSM organises opportunities for parents to connect, provides relevant information to parents and assists in classrooms and at school events. The DSM position is funded through the Department of Defence.
