Matilda Colling: Young Author of the Year Regional Winner

Congratulations to Matilda Colling who was awarded Young Author of the Year Regional Winner for the Palmerston Region. Matilda, Year 6, wrote ‘Five Minute Fables’. She was inspired to write 3 short fables after reading Aesop’s Fables. 

Other budding authors at Durack School

Zaira Nosaibah, (Year 5), wrote ‘Missing Stuff’ and Lochlan Batty, (Year 3) received participation certificates. A book has been created containing the works of all the young writers who entered the competition and is not part of the NT Libraries collection.

About the Young Writers' Award

The Young Writers’ Award is designed to discover the talent of children between 9 and 13 years of age. This award seeks to develop the writing skills of children and assist them to find their unique voice through storytelling.
