Preschool

Starting Preschool is a huge milestone for children and at Durack Preschool we work alongside families and our community to ensure it is a successful and enjoyable experience. We provide a warm and engaging environment to ensure your child has the best start to their school journey.

Programming

Programming and planning in Preschool is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and the NT Preschool Curriculum. The Early Years Learning Framework is based on researched best practice for early childhood education and aims to extend and enrich children’s learning. We encourage children to recognize their strengths and develop their knowledge, skills and understanding within a child led environment. With an inquiry approach to learning, we focus on creating curiosity and wonder to inspire children to learn.

When can my child start Preschool?

Your child can attend preschool at the age of four years old.

If your child turns four between 1 January and 30 June, they may start preschool at the beginning of the school year (Term 1).

If your child turns four after 30 June in the school year, they may start preschool on or after their fourth birthday if the preschool has places available and on the understanding that your child will attend preschool for more than 12 months by re-enrolling the following year.

Testimonials

Both my girls started school at Durack Primary School. I couldn’t have asked for a better approach to schooling for my kids to start their educational journey. Both my girls had the same preschool teacher, who they both adored. We only have great memories from Durack Primary School.

It’s the extra care the preschool provides that makes it such an amazing place. When you arrive to collect your child the staff make time to tell you the little details about your child’s day – who they may have played with, new skills learnt and simply just the kind of day they have had.
